The Pride of Workmanship Award honours individuals who exhibit exceptional dedication, excellence, and integrity in their work. It acknowledges those who take pride in their jobs, contribute positively to their workplace, and inspire others through their outstanding performance and commitment to high standards. This award celebrates the spirit of excellence and motivates others to strive for the best.
On 3rd June 2025, the Rotary Club of Blacktown City proudly presented the Pride of Workmanship Award to Jim Stewart. Jim served in the Australian Army Dental Corps for six years. Despite struggling with reading and writing due to frequently skipping school, Jin was accepted into the Dental Corps in 1964. Jim took pride in his role, understanding that soldiers wouldn’t fight if they were hungry or had a toothache.
Jim is also the third longest-serving member of the SES in NSW. He joined the SES in Auburn and, despite experiencing his first heart attack a few years ago, which prevented him from climbing roofs or ladders, Jim continues to actively contribute in various ways. He has been involved in searching for missing persons and assisting with bushfire rescues and evacuations. His SES comrades are like family to him, and he continues his long 45 years of service with the SES, earning the title of Life Member.
A very deserving recipient of the Pride of Workmanship Award, Jim was nominated by Rtn Gary Raymond. Jim received his award from President Russell Ashley and Vocational Service Director Geetha Eruvatt. He was accompanied on the evening by his friend Thomas Tan, a former member of the Malaysian Air Force.
