Huge congratulations to our fellow Rotarian Robert Vincent.
Mayor of Blacktown City, Tony Bleasdale OAM, shared that at the Councils last Ordinary Meeting he was honoured to dedicate a Mayoral Minute to Mr Robert Vincent, a true stalwart of the Blacktown community, who this year celebrates 60 years on continual service and volunteer work to Blacktown City.
“AD430005 – Mayoral Minute No. 675 – Blacktown community stalwart marks 6 decades of service F22/4
Tonight, we recognise a brilliant member of our community who will this year celebrate 60 of community service and volunteering in Blacktown City. Mr Robert Vincent was born in Blacktown almost 82 years ago and has lived and worked in the area his whole life.
He opened his first barbershop in Blacktown in 1967 in Sackville Street, and for 66 years now, Robert has kept locals looking sharp. All these years, and to this day, he works 5 days a week at his hairdressing salon in Campbell Street, Blacktown. Mr Vincent has cut the hair of countless former Blacktown Mayors, and now looks after his third generation of customers.
A passionate businessman, Robert has always been dedicated to giving back to his community. He joined the Apex Club of Blacktown in 1963 and was awarded Life Membership in 1994 he is one of only nine people to receive this recognition. Robert still gives his time to Apex at various community events, including last year’s Blacktown Show, where he helped with the sausage sizzle.
He is also a proud member of Blacktown Rotary and the Blacktown Show Society, who also awarded him life membership several years ago. Robert was a director of Blacktown Workers Club for 11 years and holds life membership for his services to the club”.
