In the spirit of both service and celebration, the Rotary Club of Blacktown City has already begun its Christmas offerings. We started with our traditional Seniors Christmas Lunch on 26 November, followed by the packing of Christmas Hampers generously donated by Blackmores on 27 November. Next, our Christmas gift wrapping at Blacktown Westpoint will commence on 4 December, continuing our tradition of community engagement during this Christmas season.
Seniors Christmas Lunch – 26 November 2025
The Rotary Club of Blacktown City began hosting the Seniors Christmas Lunch after Ellen Long, who had organised the Christmas Party for aged care residents in Blacktown for more than 13 years, sought the Club’s support. Since 2008, the Seniors Christmas Lunch has become a cherished tradition of the Club and a much‑anticipated annual event by the Seniors, ushering the Christmas season. The celebration is held in partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of Blacktown City. This year, on 26 November, 200 age care residents came and joined with guests in the festivities.
The annual Seniors Christmas Lunch is proudly sponsored by the Blacktown Workers Club and the Blacktown City Council, with additional support from Guardian Funerals and Arndell Park McDonald’s. Assistance on the day was generously provided by students from Mitchell High School, while the students of Marayong Heights Public School delighted guests with musical and dance performances. A beautiful lunch was served and all Senior attendees received a Christmas gift. Blacktown Mayor Brad Bunting, Blacktown MP Stephen Bali, District Governor Renga Rajan and Directors of Blacktown Workers Club attended in support of the event.
Blackmores Christmas Hampers packing – 27 November 2025
Since 2018, Blackmores has generously donated Christmas hampers to the Rotary Club of Blacktown City for distribution to local community organisations, bringing Christmas cheer to families in need. Each year, Rotarians and volunteers together with Blackmores staff gather for a morning of packing hampers in a festive atmosphere at the Blackmores Blacktown facilities, with refreshments kindly provided by Blackmores. Last 27 November, 200 hampers were packed in record breaking time of 35 minutes. The Blacktomores Christmas hampers will be distributed to 4 Blacktown based organisations, ADRA, Salvation Army, SydWest and Wash House.
Christmas Gift Wrapping in Westpoint – 5 December to 24 December 2025
Another cherished Christmas tradition of the Rotary Club of Blacktown City, also in partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of Blacktown City, is the annual gift wrapping for donations at Blacktown Westpoint. Sponsored by Westpoint, Rotarians, Inner Wheel Ladies, and volunteers generously give time to wrap Christmas gifts for shoppers in exchange for a gold coin (or more) donation. Beyond serving as a fundraiser for both Clubs, this activity also provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs, connect with the community, promote the Clubs’ projects, and spread Christmas cheers to shoppers.
